Sie sagt aus, wie „<a href="Pfad_(Graphentheorie)" class="mw-redirect" title="Pfad (Graphentheorie)">pfad</a>-ähnlich“ ein <a href="Graph_(Graphentheorie)" title="Graph (Graphentheorie)">Graph</a> ist. Da viele Algorithmen auf Pfaden (oder Pfadzerlegungen) effizient laufen, die dies auf allgemeinen Graphen nicht tun, ist es interessant, die Pfadweite zu kennen. Ein verwandter Begriff ist die <a href="Baumweite" title="Baumweite">Baumweite</a>.
